How to make a booking at Camp Banksia, Port Sorell

To make a booking first contact the camp manager to ascertain that the date you prefer is available. He will discuss with you the size and nature of your group, the facilities you require and forward to you the necessary application forms. At this stage any dates selected by you are only tentative. Tentative bookings will only be held for a limited period of 3 weeks. Please ensure you have a confirmed booking before printing any brochures or promoting the date of your camp.

Once the manager confirms that you have returned the completed form and paid your deposit you may then proceed to promote your camp.

  1. Contact camp manager to reserve your preferred date. Use the email form below OR phone 03 6428 6121.
  2. You will be given a Tentative Booking date. (Tentative bookings will only be held for a limited period, usually 3 weeks)
  3. You will be sent two copies of the "Application for Group Hire & Conditions of Hire" form.
  4. Complete both of these, retaining one copy for your records.
  5. Post the second copy of the form to P.O. Box 61 Port Sorell, TAS 7307.
  6. The manager will acknowledge receipt of your application form.
  7. You now have a Confirmed Booking.
  8. Please ensure you have a confirmed booking before printing brochures or promoting the date of your camp.
  9. As soon as possible post the required deposit cheque (made payable to Latrobe Council) to P.O. Box 61 Port Sorell, TAS 7307.
  10. You will need to supply a copy of a current Public Liability insurance policy before your camp commences.

You will be contacted at a later stage to confirm menu arrangements and supply details of special diets (if any).




Booking conditions

Exclusive use of the camp is guaranteed for groups using more than 50% of the camp's beds (i.e. 75 beds). For groups less than this the management reserves the right to allow a second group to share the camp but will endeavor to ensure they are compatible. Smaller groups are welcome to pay an additional fee to ensure exclusive use.

Cancellation fees apply to all confirmed bookings. The full details accompany the application form but may be sumarised as "the closer to the actual booking date that the cancellation occurs the higher the cancellation fee".

The minimum group size for a catered camp is 15 people.

Self catering is only available for groups of less than 15 people.

Public liability insurance cover is required to be held by groups booking Camp Banksia. A copy of a certificate of currency needs to be sighted by the manager before commencement of the camp. Please contact the manager if there is a problem with this requirement.

A person responsible for first aid needs to be nominated by the group and the group must supply its own first aid kit. The camp has its own first aid resources but these are intended for staff use and as a back-up to the group's needs.
