Sporting Groups

It is probably the seaside air that helps bring out the best in athletic people.

Lots of open private space plus hot strong showers and plenty of great food. It is a time proven formula for sporting groups wanting to get the best out of their training and motivational camps.

The Camp Banksia Community Centre, with its own separate entrance off Pitcairn St, comprises a gymnasium with a ½ size basket ball court, meeting and/or supper room plus two bedrooms with attached meeting/lounge room. Coaches & managers really appreciate the upstairs bedroom area that gives them their own space for planning or just relaxing.

Adjacent to the Community Centre are the 5 Willows cabins that use its downstairs showers and toilets (5 of each). All up, 35 people can be accommodated in this quite separate part of Camp Banksia.

sporting activitiesThe gymnasium facility offers an indoor heated space that ensures your camp program can proceed regardless of the weather or time of year. As well, the heated meeting room is for de-briefing or motivational talks as well as for your group to consume some or all of their meals. The adjacent barbecue area is the perfect place for outdoor dining in the warmer seasons.

The gymnasium can be set up for basketball (half size court), netball, volley ball and badminton. Also there, we have table tennis and indoor bowls. The tennis courts, kayak pond, athletics track with sand pit and large grassed oval compliment the range of sporting facilities on site

Beach running is recognised as an excellent training methodology. This along with swimming and kayaking are at your disposal along Freer's beach which adjoins the front boundary of Camp Banksia.
