Bunk cabins with shared amenities

These account for most of the beds at Camp Banksia. There are 22 bunk cabins with 6 beds in each cabin and are arranged in clusters.

Cabin Cluster

  • The Blackwood and Willows clusters have 5 cabins each.
  • The She-oak and Boobyalla clusters each have 6 cabins.
  • The Willows cluster has a short walk (15m) to the 5 toilets and 5 showers in the camp Community Centre whilst the other three clusters have their own set of 3 toilets and 3 showers each within each cluster.
  • All rooms have electric heaters and a monitored fire alarm system.
  • Guests need to supply their own bedding, pillow, towels and toiletries for the bunk cabins (the camp supplies a mattress only).

This gives a total of 132 beds in 22 cabins and are ideal for use by larger groups. Due to the separation of the clusters different groups can use each cluster without infringing upon any other group that happens to be staying at the camp.

Family RoomsThese are located in the Banksia Retreat complex. Each of the two adjoining bedrooms contains a queen size double bed plus four bunk beds and has its own toilet, shower and hand basin as well as a sofa. They both open onto a lounge area that has a kitchenette with a microwave oven, sink and small refrigerator. Downstairs these rooms have access to the showers and toilet facilities. These rooms can be supplied with bedding, pillows and towels if required. All rooms have electric heaters and a monitored fire alarm system. AccessibilityDisabled Access

Most of the facilities at Camp Banksia are wheel chair accessible.

There is a ramp to the Main Hall/Dining Room. The toilet in this area has level access with plenty of extra internal room plus hand rails.

The first four cabins in each cluster (except Willows cluster) are level access and have a disabled access toilet & shower room.

All other bunk cabins as well as the Banksia Retreat complex have two steps up into each of the rooms.

The lower beds in each of the bunk cabins are quite low. Some people may need assistance to access these.

The camp Community Centre has level access (to downstairs area) and also has a disabled access toilet & shower room.

The camp site itself is very flat and there are no changes in level from the sealed car park.

There are concrete paths connecting all of the buildings.
